Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and driven Head of Engineering to lead and optimize the daily operations of our Engineering Team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the technical direction of Autobahn Technologies and build the foundation for a future CTO position, based on demonstrated performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define the technical roadmap aligned with business goals.
- Ensure scalability, security, and performance of the SaaS platform.
- Lead and manage the Engineering Team, ensuring an efficient and collaborative work environment.
- Optimize the development team's output by assigning tasks based on developer strengths and proper prioritization.
- Tackle technical debt and maintenance challenges to ensure a clean, efficient, and scalable codebase.
- Dive into architectural debt, identify pain points, and implement solutions to enhance system performance and scalability.
- Plan and manage the tech budget, optimizing costs while ensuring high performance and security
- Serve as a hands-on leader, ready to contribute to programming when needed, with a deep understanding of the development process.
- Work closely with other teams, to support customer needs and business goals
- Report directly to the CEO, ensuring alignment of technical goals with business objectives.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven leadership skills, with a history of managing and growing engineering teams.
- Solid understanding of the AWS environment, cyber security, testing, DevOps, and automation.
- Proficiency in backend & frontend technologies (PHP and PostgreSQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular)
- Experience with scalable, high-availability system architecture
- Ability to use AI both in development process and integrated into the Product
- Ability to step in and contribute to programming when necessary, with a solid understanding of daily development tasks.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Estonian language skills are considered an extra plus.

- The position is based on a hybrid working model, with 3 days from the office and 2 days optional from home office, after the first 6 months.
