Space Team Data Scientist

The space team in Datel is oriented towards developing innovative solutions based on remote sensing data. We are looking for a new team member who will be creating and improving satellite data machine learning models (including Datel's new product for illegal construction detection from satellite data).

ABOUT THE ROLEWhat you will be doing:

• Develop and evaluate ML-based computer vision algorithms (mainly on satellite data)
• Develop solutions to derive business value from the model outputs
• Deploy the model for integration into a web application product

Alongside the above-mentioned responsibilities, you will have the chance to contribute new project ideas as well as propose and implement solutions to Datel's existing customers.

• Practical experience in training and evaluating machine learning algorithms
• Practical experience with Python

TECHNICAL SKILLS THAT WILL BE CONSIDERED AS BONUS

• Practical experience with machine learning for computer vision
• Experience with ML+CV tools in Python (we use opencv-python, pytorch, lightning)
• Exposure to GIS tools in Python (we use geopandas, shapely, rasterio, pyproj)
• Experience in deploying ML models to production
• Basic level understanding of web applications architecture
• Basic level understanding of modern DevOps practices

SOFT SKILLS

• Can work independently
• Can understand the business needs behind the technical work
• Can transform technical metrics from ML domain to business metrics and communicate the results to diverse audiences
• Can plan technical work in her/his domain, given project duration and budget constraints
• Speaks English
• Willing to work 80% in the office (face to face communication with other team members in R&D projects)
• Work experience at least 3 years
