Production Engineering Manager

ABB Drives Estonia is looking for a passionate Production Engineering Manager to Operations Team. In this role you will be responsible for engineering our production processes, methods and technical skillset to ensure world-class operational performance. A holistic view of production from assembly to packing, built-in quality, lean methods such as value-steam mapping, flow efficiency, process capability and pareto charts will be within your daily toolbox.

The work model for the role is: on-site.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Holistic value chain assessment for performance optimization and future systems modelling.
  • Continuous improvement by lean techniques and value engineering to enhance the process capacity, reduction of waste and variation using Lean Six Sigma methods.
  • Assembly scenario design with an engineering view: process flow, critical-to-quality checkpoints and right balance of production metrics in-line with pulse of customer demand.
  • Usage of value stream mapping, flow efficiency, process capability, pareto charts and production simulation as daily tools.
  • Best practice of production engineering: planning, vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to establish world-class operational performance.
  • Management of daily production engineering tasks and support in certification audits.
  • Leading the development of the team, encourage innovation of new methods, actively promotion a work environment that stimulates passion for Safety, Quality and Integrity in all the actions.
  • Co-operation with other ABB Drives production units globally, ensures systematic knowledge and best practice sharing.
  • Safety-first mindset to ensure ABB HSE standards are applied and the team strives for a world class safe production environment.

 

Qualifications for the role

  • University degree in a relevant area as Industrial, Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering
  • Prior experience in Production Development and/or Process Engineering
  • Solid knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Continuous Improvement and Automation
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred
  • Experience in assembly process of complex electro-mechanical products. Design for assembly/Automation and in CAD tools would be considered as a merit
  • Analytical skills, ability to work in a team and collaborate with internal/external partners
  • Ability to think outside of the box and challenge status-quo for improvement
  • Experience in team building and organizational leadership is beneficial
  • Good command of English combined with excellent communication and presentation skills
