Salary offers increased by 13% in the first quarter

The average gross salary range offered in job advertisements in the first quarter of 2024 was between 1660 and 2244 euros, which is 13% higher compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Estonian most visited job site CVKeskus.ee.

The largest increase in salary offers over the year was observed for managers and top specialists (+21%), as well as skilled workers and professional workers (+13%). The smallest growth was seen in job offers targeting assistants, office workers, and middle-level specialists, where salaries increased by 6% over the year.

Grete Adler, Head of Recruitment at CVKeskus.ee job site, highlighted from the salary statistics that the average salary offer for top specialists reached a record high of 3222 euros in the first quarter of 2024.

"Salary offers for middle-level specialists and office workers reached 2644 euros, and for skilled workers and professional workers, the offers reached 2140 euros. Salary offers for service and sales workers reached 1536 euros," added Grete Adler.

Upper limit of salary offers rose to 15,000 euros

Employers posted job offers on the CVKeskus.ee job site in the first quarter of this year, where the offered salary even reached up to 15,000 euros. Earning such high salaries was mostly associated with bonuses received by top performers in their respective fields.

Salary offers targeting sales managers in the first quarter exceeded the current salary of Members of Parliament by two and a half times, with the highest salary offers reaching 15,000 euros. For comparison, the salary of a Member of Parliament as of April 1 is 5979 euros and 95 cents.

Very high salaries were also offered to real estate brokers (up to 10,000 euros) and IT specialists (up to 9000 euros). Salaries exceeding 6000 euros were offered in the first quarter to banking sector managers and construction sector specialists.

In the first quarter, Members of Parliament's salaries exceeded 1.5% of public salary offers.

Fastest growth in marketing

Across job sectors, salary offers increased most rapidly by 25% in the marketing sector and healthcare.

Salary offers decreased in only one sector - administration/assistance, where the offered salary decreased by 3%.

Salary trends in counties

In the first quarter, salary offers rose most rapidly in Tartu County (including Tartu), where the offered salary increased by 17% over the year. In Harju County (including Tallinn), salaries for offered jobs increased by 12%, and in Pärnu County by 8%. Salary offers in jobs offered in Eastern Estonia also increased by 8%.

In Harju County (including Tallinn) and Tartu County (including Tartu), the highest-paying job offers in the first quarter were in the sales sector, where salaries reached 15,000 euros. In Pärnu County (including Pärnu), the highest salary offer was 6000 euros, offered to a company CEO.

Currently, according to data from the CVKeskus.ee job site, the highest-paying job offers in Tartu are for sales representatives (salary offered up to 10,000 euros, including bonuses), regional managers (salary offered up to 4000 euros), and electricians (salary offered up to 3000 euros).

In Pärnu, the top three salary offers include that of a litigation lawyer (salary exceeding 2800 euros), a cook (salary offered up to 2500 euros), and a truck driver for international transports (salary offered up to 2300 euros). High salaries are also offered in Pärnu for wind turbine mechanics, with a salary offered up to 2200 euros.

In Harju County (including Tallinn), the highest salaries are offered to sales representatives (salary offered up to 10,000 euros, including bonuses), brokers (salary offered up to 5000 euros), and nurses (salary offered up to 5000 euros). Salaries up to 4500 euros are offered in the capital city for chief accountants, chief physicians, and energy pricing analysts.
