ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST

Role of Environmental Specialist reports to site HSE Manager and based in Kohtla-Järve, Estonia. This position coordinates all environmental activities at the site for accomplishing compliance with national law of Estonia and Eastman Chemical Company standards.

• Provides back up for Safety Supervisor
• Position is backed up by Safety Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Follows Eastman safety expectations and other safety rules applicable to site.
• Gathers information, analyzes changes at the site that may have impact on the environment and completes data forms in national environmental reporting system.
• Maintains relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organization.
• Remains current on major national environmental regulations changes and European union directives.
• Ensures the organization is fully compliant with all legislative and organization requirements for safeguarding the environment, while protecting lives and assets.
• Cooperates with other departments for managing the environmental issues.
• Monitors and reports on progress of environmental projects.
• Develops, maintain, and improve an environmental accident and investigation process to identify root causes and perform corrective actions.
• Delivers training, learning and development requirements to employees.
• Performs any other additional tasks that are closely related to environmental specialist work and are according to its skills and qualifications.

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or chemistry.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the environmental area.
• Advanced user of outlook, MS office, SAP and ability to use other computer programs necessary for work.
• Speaks 3 languages – English language skills on advanced level, Russian and Estonian language skills medium-level, professional vocabulary possession mandatory.
• Personal qualities - good communication skills, incl. ability to organize cooperation between different departments; good work ability, incl. the ability to work stably and with high quality even in a stressful situation; sense of duty, decision-making and responsibility, incl. the ability to take decisions independently within the limits of his or her position, the ability to anticipate the consequences of decisions and to take responsibility for them; intellectual ability, incl. ability to distinguish significantly and analytical ability.
