Backend Engineer - Rules Platform

Job Description

About the role 

As a part of the Rules Platform team you will be responsible for building the platform solution that helps fincrime teams in wise to execute their risk assessment and product teams to be easily connected with that. This requires  solutions with high regards to code quality, architecture applicability, performance, reliability and adherence to company-wide engineering standards.

 

How we work

We work in an agile fashion, with engineers closely collaborating with data analysts and scientists, product manager. The team is based in Tallinn, however we are working really close to fincrime and product teams in wise which based in different locations: London, Budapest and others. 

Qualifications

What will you be working on?

You will be part of the Rules platform team which owns the rule engine and responsible for executing risk assessment and providing meaningful responses back to the product. 

 

What do you need?

We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more, we do want to hear from you!

  • Experience working with Java, Spring framework, asynchronous message queues and have worked with microservices architecture – this is essential

  • You have experience working with large scale distributed systems

  • Comfortable working on big challenges and taking full ownership of the customer journey

  • Experience building and designing scalable and performing systems

  • You have experience working with relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation and designing schemas

  • A passion for international finance, foreign exchange and payment systems

  • You have a strong product mindset and passion for customer experience, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points

  • You enjoy collaborating with others and bringing people together to solve a problem

  • You have experience in designing, deploying and maintaining clean RESTful APIs

  • You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback

  • You enjoy writing testable code and believe in Test Driven Development

 

Nice to have: 

  • You have experience with Spring boot

  • Experience in Fintech 

  • Experience in Fincrime

Additional Information

  • Compensation: €48,000 - €66,000 annual + RSUs

  • Benefits in our Estonia office
